Walter became a pharmacist. He also was mayor of Alamogordo and he owned several pharmacies along with several rentals. Died in car accident in 1960 while serving as Mayor protem.

Worked as a pharmacist all his life right up until he passed away in a car accident in 22 Oct 2005 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was there for a Pharmacy school reunion as he had graduated valedictorian. He lived in Antioch, California.
